Burlesquey Books

See, when I blog, I blog in spurts!
It all comes a rushin' out.
But, I figure it's better than no blogging at all.

This little thing is just to show you the other big thing that I have been doing this summer: trying to track down burlesque books for cheap (thanks www.abe.com) to get some historical context and knowledge about burlesque.

There's nothing more annoying (it's a pet peeve of mine) than performers that don't have a context. Maybe it was just super important for me, as a person who was entirely new to performing. In anycase, I'll try not to be such a snob about it and instead revel in being a hardcore nerd.

Note that the Century Girl book about Doris Eaton Travis is my favorite. Not only is Doris a phenomenal woman, but the book is done in a completely organic and creative scrapbook style reminiscent of the way I write about/document my own life. Complete kindred spirit, mmm :)

Smoochies for your reading :) xo, j
